BYD Atto3 common problems: what to check before you buy
Credov's researched list of the 2 faults the BYD Atto3 is known for, 2 of them serious or costly. Each one says what to look for when you check the car, so you can spot it before you buy. Not every car has these faults: they are the ones worth checking on this model.

What to look for: On the test drive, watch for sudden braking or a collision warning with nothing ahead on ordinary roads.
Why it matters: A forward-collision system that brakes hard for no reason can be rear-ended on the open road, and lane-keep steering that fights the driver on a narrow or badly marked road is unsettling and can pull the car toward the verge or oncoming traffic; both are worse on a car that has missed its software updates.
What to look for: Ask if the car has gone flat before and check the 12 V battery's replacement date sticker under the bonnet.
Why it matters: A flat 12 V battery leaves an otherwise fully charged car completely dead and may need a tow to restart, and an early, worn battery can keep failing every 18-24 months until it is replaced with a better part and updated software.
