Lexus GS450h common problems: what to check before you buy
Credov's researched list of the 3 faults the Lexus GS450h is known for (2006–2011), 3 of them serious or costly. Each one says what to look for when you check the car, so you can spot it before you buy. Not every car has these faults: they are the ones worth checking on this model.

Fuel leak at the pressure sensor
Safety risk
2006–2013 · 4GR-FSE, 3GR-FSE, 2GR-FSE, 1UR-FSE · petrol · Engine
What to look for: Smell for petrol and look for dark fuel stains around the fuel pressure sensor, and ask for the recall records.
Why it matters: Three AU register entries (2011, 2014, 2016) describe the same failure path: insufficiently tightened sensor, then a gasket whose sealing degrades over time, leading to a fuel leak with a fire hazard. A car with the campaign outstanding is a liability to retail.
2006–2008 · 2GR-FSE, 1UR-FSE, 2UR-FSE · petrol · Engine
What to look for: Listen at idle from cold for ticking, rattling or an uneven idle, and ask for the valve spring recall record.
Why it matters: The register states the valve spring material may not have sufficient strength, may crack and break. A broken spring can stop the engine while driving and can put a valve into a piston - an engine-out repair on a car worth less than the fix.
What to look for: Listen at start-up or in park for a long buzzing or clicking pump, and check for ABS, VSC or ECB lights.
Why it matters: Owners report the actuator costing more to replace than a new engine in some cases. Any ABS, VSC, ECB or brake warning light should stop the sale until a workshop has diagnosed it, and brake work done without the correct hybrid bleed procedure can itself trigger these faults.

On top of the faults above, every Credov inspection covers the basics: fuel smell, leaks or filler rust, engine oil leaks, power steering fluid leak, drive belt cracks or squeal, rust underneath: chassis and mounts, engine mounts, engine oil level and colour, coolant level, colour and leaks, head gasket failure signs, cold start: rattle, knock or smoke, rough or hunting idle, engine running hot on gauge, gearbox or diff oil leak, swapped gearbox without lvv and more.
