Lexus LS600hL common problems: what to check before you buy
Credov's researched list of the 3 faults the Lexus LS600hL is known for (2006–2013), 3 of them serious or costly. Each one says what to look for when you check the car, so you can spot it before you buy. Not every car has these faults: they are the ones worth checking on this model.
Known problems on the Lexus LS600hL
Fuel leak at the pressure sensor
Safety risk
2006–2013 · 4GR-FSE, 3GR-FSE, 2GR-FSE, 1UR-FSE · petrol · Engine
What to look for: Smell for petrol and look for dark fuel stains around the fuel pressure sensor, and ask for the recall records.
Why it matters: Three AU register entries (2011, 2014, 2016) describe the same failure path: insufficiently tightened sensor, then a gasket whose sealing degrades over time, leading to a fuel leak with a fire hazard. A car with the campaign outstanding is a liability to retail.
2006–2008 · 2GR-FSE, 1UR-FSE, 2UR-FSE · petrol · Engine
What to look for: Listen at idle from cold for ticking, rattling or an uneven idle, and ask for the valve spring recall record.
Why it matters: The register states the valve spring material may not have sufficient strength, may crack and break. A broken spring can stop the engine while driving and can put a valve into a piston - an engine-out repair on a car worth less than the fix.
What to look for: Listen for creaks or pops over speed humps, and look at the front control arm bushings for cracks.
Why it matters: Owners report this from about 80,000 km, and because Lexus only sells the bushings together with the control arms, a full front-end refresh is an expensive job. Left unchecked it also affects handling and accelerates tyre wear.
