What to look for: If possible see the car after it has sat overnight, and check every corner sits level at the same height.
Why it matters: A leak overworks the compressor until it overheats and fails too, often around 130,000-150,000 km, so an affected GL without receipts should be budgeted for both struts and a compressor.
What to look for: With a torch, look down the back of the engine and at the gearbox bellhousing for wet, dusty oil.
Why it matters: The seals themselves are cheap, but the job means stripping the top of the engine, making it a big labour bill, and even revised seals have been reported leaking again on some cars.
