Credov's researched list of the 2 faults the Polestar P3 is known for, 2 of them serious or costly. Each one says what to look for when you check the car, so you can spot it before you buy. Not every car has these faults: they are the ones worth checking on this model.
Known problems on the Polestar P3
On-board AC charger (GHCA) fails
Costly if missed
ev · Hybrid and EV
What to look for: Plug the car into an AC charger and watch it ramp up and hold a steady kW rate for several minutes.
Why it matters: A failed on-board charger stops the car charging at home, which is how most owners charge day to day, and the part has needed replacing more than once on some cars with parts waits running into weeks, leaving the car reliant on public DC chargers in the meantime.
What to look for: Park using reverse-drive-reverse a few times and check the rear camera view comes back and both screens stay on.
Why it matters: Losing the driver display or the rear camera while manoeuvring or driving removes the information and visibility a driver relies on at exactly the moment it is needed, and on a car with no physical climate or camera controls a screen blackout also takes away demisting and parking aids until it recovers.
