Polestar PS2 common problems: what to check before you buy
Credov's researched list of the 3 faults the Polestar PS2 is known for (2020–2023), 3 of them serious or costly. Each one says what to look for when you check the car, so you can spot it before you buy. Not every car has these faults: they are the ones worth checking on this model.

Reversing camera dropout

What to look for: Select reverse right after the car wakes from sleep and watch for a black, frozen or 'camera unavailable' screen.
Why it matters: Losing the reversing camera on a car with poor rear visibility makes reversing in tight spaces much harder and riskier, and a fault that several software updates have not fully fixed is likely to keep recurring for a new owner.
What to look for: Ask when the 12V battery was last replaced and check for a boot that is slow to open.
Why it matters: A sudden 12V failure can leave the car locked, unresponsive and unable to be driven with no warning, and replacing it out of warranty has cost owners several hundred dollars once dealer diagnosis and battery-management reset work is included.
Typical repair: NZ$400–NZ$1,000 in New Zealand · A$410–A$1,030 in Australia
What to look for: Plug the car into an AC charger during the inspection and confirm it actually starts charging and shows a kW rate.
Why it matters: Losing AC charging means the car can no longer be charged at home overnight, which is how most owners charge day to day, and the on-board charger is a dealer-only part that has taken weeks to source, leaving the car reliant on public DC chargers in the meantime.
