Porsche Macan GTS common problems: what to check before you buy
Credov's researched list of the 3 faults the Porsche Macan GTS is known for (2015–2018), 3 of them serious or costly. Each one says what to look for when you check the car, so you can spot it before you buy. Not every car has these faults: they are the ones worth checking on this model.
What to look for: Ask for both fuel pump recall records, then smell around the rear seats after the drive for any petrol.
Why it matters: Two regulator recall records: the fuel pump flange may crack (2015-2017 S and Turbo, and 2017 Macan/GTS/Turbo Performance Package), and on 2015-2018 Macan the service cover may contact the flange's flow nozzle and crack it, allowing fuel to leak. Fuel leaking inside the body is a fire risk and a WOF fail.
What to look for: Look at each front anti-roll bar link at full lock for a crooked end, and rock the car for a knock.
Why it matters: Regulator recall record: the anti-rollbar connecting links may move out of position, allowing the vehicle to oversteer in certain driving conditions, which may lead to a loss of vehicle control. MY2017 Macan, Macan S, Macan GTS and Macan Turbo only.
What to look for: Check the 'passenger airbag off' light shows when the seat is empty but not when an adult sits there.
Why it matters: Regulator recall record: the front passenger seat occupancy sensor mat may degrade and fail to detect a passenger on 2017-2018 Macan/GTS/Turbo and 2015-2018 Macan S/Turbo, so the passenger airbag may not deploy in a crash.
