Porsche Cayenne common problems: what to check before you buy

Credov's researched list of the 2 faults the Porsche Cayenne is known for (2008–2018), 1 of them serious or costly. Each one says what to look for when you check the car, so you can spot it before you buy. Not every car has these faults: they are the ones worth checking on this model.

Known problems on the Porsche Cayenne

Leather dash lifting near airbag

Costly if missed

2010–2018 · Interior and air con

What to look for: Look along the top of the dash and windscreen base for lifted, wrinkled or bubbled leather.

Why it matters: Owners report Porsche has only replaced the dash at the owner's cost, and a misaligned airbag cut-out can be a safety concern as well as a costly trim repair.

Headlight aim adjuster caps

Minor

2008–2020 · all · Paperwork

What to look for: Look at the back of each headlight for the small cap over the aim screw, and check both low beams sit level.

Why it matters: Regulator recall record: the caps covering the low-beam headlight horizontal adjustment screws are missing, which can allow the headlights to be improperly adjusted, on certain 2003-2020 Macan, Cayenne, Panamera and Cayman S. Minor, but headlight aim is a WOF check item and the model coverage is broad.
